Our Core Values

Whether based on how we were raised or on traits we developed over time through experience and education, we all have values and convictions that drive us. A successful business is no different.

The leaders at ECS Comfort Heating & Cooling have identified our core values. These convictions are the lens through which we look at our business, our community, and our customers.

Understanding how we look at the world is a great place to start when deciding whether to choose ECS Comfort Heating & Cooling with the health, safety, and comfort of you and your family.

We are Committed to Serving Our Community with Integrity

Serving our community with integrity goes far beyond just telling the truth. We believe that serving with integrity involves not only being honest and forthcoming with customers, but also refusing to cut corners – especially when it comes to safety and accountability. This could mean shutting down a unit that is leaking toxic carbon monoxide or refusing to add environmentally hazardous refrigerant into a system with a known leak. Sometimes the decisions we make are not always convenient, but we believe that serving our community with integrity requires making the right decision.

We are Committed to Excellence

Just as we won’t cut corners and risk the safety of our customers, we refuse to cut corners at the expense of quality. We believe that our customers pay for and expect high-quality, professional service. We are committed to providing that, and we when we miss the mark, we work hard to make it right.

We are Committed to Respecting Everyone’s Journey

All of us are not at the same place in our journey through life. We understand that we are stepping into the lives our friends, neighbors, customers, colleagues at only a step along their journey. We do not all need the same products or services, but we do all need the same respect. We strive not to oversell a product or service or to apply any type of pressure. We also strive not to make assumptions or arrive at conclusions based solely on what we observe.

We are Committed to Developing a Culture of Lifelong Learning

For many years ECS Comfort Heating & Cooling has attempted to develop a culture in which our employees are continually learning new skills, new products, and new technologies. We are using tools and selling systems with technologies that did not even exist when we opened our doors in 1988 such as using virtual reality to train technicians to diagnose and maintain a wide variety of heating and cooling systems. We strive to remain on the cutting edge of technology, and we would love to bring you along on what we are learning.

We are Committed to Encouraging Mutual Accountability

We are all responsible for our own actions, but we can also learn from others. Our culture is one where we watch out for each other and encourage each other to do the right thing every time. This is a reason that sometimes we send different technicians to different properties. They are double checking the work of the technician who came before them. We all learn together when we are accountable to each other.

Here in Lebanon County, our winters can be mild and comfortable, or they can be bitterly cold. When the temperature drops, there are things you can do to less the weather’s impact on your energy bill. Let the Sun In If you are blessed with a lot of windows in your home, considering pulling back the shades on the windows that face the sun during the cold winter days. This will allow as much light as possible into your home and can help warm your interior space during the daytime hours. While maybe not enough to eliminate the need for central heat, it can help relieve some of the strain on your furnace or heat pump. Consider Adding Space Heaters If you are like many people, your daily activities are limited to certain areas of your home. It may not make sense to fully heat your whole home when you are only using portions of it. Depending on your lifestyle and the layout of our home, you may be able to lower the thermostat and supplement the heating system in the rooms you occupy most with electric space heaters. When used properly, space heaters can be a safe and efficient way to take the chill off on cold winter nights. Dig out the Sweatshirts and Fuzzy Slippers If you like to get comfortable in a pair of warm slippers and a sweatshirt, cold winter days are perfect for you. Warm clothes will allow you to turn the thermostat down a few degrees while remaining comfortable. Close Your Chimney Flue When Not in Use Snuggling up close to a warm fireplace is wonderful in the winter, but a fireplace chimney that is designed to keep your home safe and smoke free can wreak havoc on your heat bill during the winter. Remember heat rises, so keep your flue closed when your fireplace is not in use. This will help keep the warm air from your heating system inside the house. Make Sure Your Furnace Filter is Clean Furnace filters have one job – filter out dirt and particulates from the air that flows through your furnace. Over time, filters get dirty and clogged. Clogged filters make your furnace work harder and use more energy. Do not waste energy unnecessarily. Change your furnace filter every 1 to 3 months. Lower the Temperature When You Are Not Home While the debate lingers as to what is the most energy efficient indoor temperature, we know that your furnace does not use energy when it is not running. Drop the temperature a few degrees when you leave for the day and warm it back up when you return. Your furnace will work less to maintain that lower temperature, and you will use less energy. Keeping your home in the low 60s is great for this type of thing. It is cooler, but not so cold that it takes a long time to warm back up. Keep your Furnace Properly Maintained We sometimes think this should go without saying, but we will say it anyway: a properly maintained system uses less energy than a dirty system that is not operating to its fullest potential. Call us at ECS Comfort Heating & Cooling to book your preventative maintenance appointment. It is never too late to clean your furnace.
